8 Days Golf Tour to the Golden Land
(Yangon - Bagan - Mandalay - Maymyo - Mandalay - Yangon)
DAY 1 - TOSS THE CELLULAR PHONE!: YANGON
The beginning of an exiting 8 days golf journey
in the land of golden pagodas and golden dreams
starts with a tour in the amazingly green city
of Yangon.
Welcome dinner at the Sedona Hotel.

DAY 2 - COLONIAL GOLF...: YANGON
After breakfast on this morning you have plenty of time
for some shopping, such as visiting a glass factory
producing exquisite hand-blown glasses or wandering
around the sprawling Bogyoke Market with its fascinating
neighborhood. Wide streets, orderly town planning and
neglected public buildings revive visions of a century of
British rule, while busy street scenes and shimmering
pagodas, bursting through a leafy canopy, hint at the
rich local culture. Skyscrapers and glaring neon
billboards have yet to overtake the city. Before your
golf activities you will pay a visit to the most famous
pagoda, the Shwedagon, praying for weird and wonderful
shots...After lunch time you start your first Myanma 18
holes in one of the first Burmese golf clubs. Founded by
the British in 1909 with G. Balance as the very first
captain, this golf course is still the best throughout
the country. In those days the Burmese could enter the
club only by being caddies
Don't blame it on your
"jet-lag" or the caddy, if you are not
satisfied with your swing in a tropical country! Dinner
at the Green Elephant House, offering delicate Myanmar
cuisine.
DAY 3
- READY, SET, PLAY: YANGON - BAGAN
This is the day for early morning birds. By Yangon Air
you will arrive at the most extensive archeological site
in Asia Bagan with its 2,000 temples. No need to
worry you will only explore two of the most
beautiful temples before you get your body ready to play
golf at the Bagan Nyaung Oo Golf Club in the afternoon.
Please note, that there will be 3 strokes penalty for
hitting one of the pagodas on the 18 holes course, built
in 1997 ! In the relaxing garden next to two 11th
century-pagodas and the Ayeyarwaddy River stretching out
beyond, you may reflect on the result of your handicap... |
DAY 4 - THE SWING OF THINGS IN THE ARCHEOLOGICAL
ZONE: BAGAN
For the ones who did not get up to now into the
"Swing of Things", let's have another
try after breakfast. Instead of visiting the
remaining 1,998 temples and pagodas, a horse cart
will bring you to some villages, visiting small
home industries of lacquerware, pottery and
cotton weaving. Taking a short cruise to one of
the river sand banks with a "sandbank
bar" is a surreal experience, to say the
least. Surprise dinner at the Thiripyitsaya Sakura Hotel.
|
DAY 5 - FIGURING OUT THE THREE
ESSENTIAL INGREDIENTS:
BAGAN - MANDALAY
Before 9 a.m. you will arrive to the city of the last
Myanmar kings by Yangon Air.
Don't miss the revered Mahamuni Buddha image and the
climb of 1,729 steps to the Mandalay Hill, which will be
your physical trainings program for your next round of
golf. The sky view will not only show you the 729 stone
slabs of the Kuthodaw Pagoda with the entirety of the
Buddhist scriptures, but also the Mandalay Yadana Bon
Golf Course - latest now you may start training your
mental skills. The 36 holes flat course will challenge
your talent of enjoying this sport. Don't moan, the
dinner will be at the Sedona Hotel.

 |
|
DAY 6 - DANCING WITH THE TREES: MANDALAY - MAYMYO - MANDALAY
A winding, circuitous route up through the hills
will bring you to Maymyo, a former British Hill
Station, the only place where the colonial civil
servants did not suffer from tropical
temperatures. Located in lush green woods, the
Maymyo Golf Club, founded in 1941, provides you
with a challenging 18 hole course.
Every fairway
will teach you "different strokes for different
folks"
Try to take dead aim at any
tree which is in your way and knock it over with
the ball! The award of this exiting day will be a
dinner in Mandalay. |
DAY 7 - THERE IS ALWAYS THE NEXT HOLE
:
MANDALAY - YANGON
In the morning Yangon Air will bring you back to
the modern city of Yangon, leaving tranquility
and peace behind you. In the afternoon you will
chase your golf ball around the Ngwe Thaw Dar
Golf Course, also known as YCDC, where, among
other tournaments, the PGA Tournament has taken place.
After this eventful day you deserve a
sunset drink at the famous Yangon Sailing Club,
which is proud owner of a brass bell donated by
Sir Mountbatten.

DAY 8: YANGON/Departure Day
We hope you enjoyed this golf journey in one of the
remote parts of South East Asia. Even though climate,
culture and facilites might be different from your home town, at the end of the
day, in golf, we all speak the
same language - utterances of the insane! MINGALA BAR!
